This is a more recent musical unit which disbanded. Regardless, they deserve your attention. An Obscure Signal brought a hard hitting sound from Washington (Moshington), DC with the kind of power that could have carried it much further.

The band released one EP entitled “Creations” back in 2010. The release was produced by Misha Mansoor (aka Bulb) of Periphery and had a good run through the metal underground, opening mosh pits wherever it was played. Shortly after they released an awesome single “Occurrences” which is still available for FREE download from the official AOS Bandcamp! You can listen to the content above, down below. The band had some line-up changes as they began recording their next release, but the music would never reach the ears of fans as the band unfortunately broke up. They are now all pursuing new and different musical endeavors. From solo projects to bands such as From Atlantis.

An Obscure Signal have hinted that they may release the new material eventually. In the mean time, they’ve had / proposed reunion shows. You can read my experience from seeing them live during the AOS prime below.

“I still remember seeing these guys live as a local band opening up for This Or The Apocalypse awhile back. Usually local bands bore me, but An Obscure Signal kicked ass! No one knew who they were but the crowd was into it and they opened the show like a bunch of pros, outshining most of the following acts. What made it even cooler was after the set Alex Mola, their vocalist, just came up to me and Thall Baker out of the blue and we talked about all kinds of shit. At one point, he got distracted and said he would be back. I didn’t expect him to actually come back, being the front man of a band that literally just wrecked the stage. But to my surprise, he did come back and we chilled with him for a good bit of the show. Really cool dude.”
