This is a band crossing both nations and sounds. The Mascaron have members from both Latvia and the UK. Formed last year, the band literally just dropped their appropriately named debut EP “Beginnings”. It was first brought to my attention by our friends at English Djentlemens Quarters, and for good reason. The Mascaron bring a competent Progressive Metal sound with a serious focus on melody and experimentation as they venture across different sounds. What makes it even better is that the EP is being offered up for a “name your price” download on Bandcamp. Pay what you want or nothing at all. Either way, it’s worth it.
