Brand new death metal band Oblivion have continued to make waves in the metal world long after their debut was released, way back in January. This time the news is a pretty huge deal. Oblivion have announced that they will be taking a big step up from an independent act to a signed one. Unique Leader Records has officially signed Oblivion to their roster. This is big news for a band that has stayed busy since the release of their debut album “Called to Rise.”

This record deal will include a reissue of the band’s debut album “Called to Rise” with limited pressing of physical copies and a focus on bandcamp downloads. The album will feature different packaging, new content, and a brand new bonus track. Unique Leader Records has announced the official worldwide street date of “Called to Rise” as October 15th 2013. So if you haven’t purchased the album at all, want a physical copy, or want to grab another physical copy for the new goodies, it seems like “Called to Rise” will be available in ample supply.

One big question I have is how this signing will change Oblivion. The band has been a studio project from the start. The band members all have lives that they aren’t going to be leaving to tour. I’m assuming Unique Leader is okay with this or there’d be no point to signing them. Will the signing mean more Oblivion music faster? That’d certainly be welcomed. The guys have stayed very busy since the release of their debut. They have a new music video coming out next Monday. This is their fourth video, which is ya know… a lot. Big things seem to be looming on the horizon for Oblivion.
