Add this to a list of ridiculous things happening in the world today. Apparently, there’s a petition attemption to ban the bands Soilwork and Watain from entering and performing in Singapore… which already has 17,000 signatures…

The petition, which can be found HERE, states that “These heavy metal bands do not represent the culture which we want in our youths. Their subliminal messages in their songs include death and suicide. Sign this petition to get our lawmakers to ban these bands from performing in Singapore.”

While Watain is no stranger to this kind of treatment, it’s just outright bizzare to see Soilwork being reacted to like the plague given their lack of controversies. This all just seems to have inflated around the surface level judgement and misunderstanding that often follows our community.

Also, let’s be completely honest… Neither of these bands exactly fall into the children’s demographic so I’m not sure what they’re so worried about either way? Let the metalheads have their metal! It’s of no consequence to the people who made this petition…
