Sin City has hit another jackpot. Las Vegas Nevada metal band Alive In Me may have just started making music but harness promising qualities. Their album “Through The Looking Glass” will be available April 23 but they decided to give fans just a taste of the new material.

“Counterfeit” is a grinding track complete with the metal staples. Cascading guitar riffs, a solid bass line, and crashing cymbals with growls litter the track. Surprisingly, Alive In Me delivers some slight melodic influences in their chorus which sets them a part of what the scene has been working on lately. However, I really wish their vocalist would improve on his diction. At times, it sounded like he was chewing on something while growling the lyrics. Yeah, I wanna rage but understanding some of the words would help.

“Half Blood” features vocalist Matt Honeycutt of Kublai Khan (another band coming to Buffalo soon). The addition of his vocals makes the track more coherent and made me wanna turn up my speaker volume even more. From the sounds of it, Alive In Me will be one of those bands you just wanna throw down to.

Perhaps listening to their album as a whole will give me a new perspective. For right now, they’re a solid upcoming talent approaching 2,000 likes on Facebook. Perhaps the future will provide them another jackpot or two.
