A few months ago, it was announced that singer Daniel Tompkins (TesseracT, ex-Skyharbor) and guitar mastermind Chimp Spanner were working on a studio project together. ZETA – the name of the project – has been dubbed as a “Retrowave, Synthwave, 80’s magic” band. Here’s what Daniel Tompkins had to say about it back in July:
Just to let you guys know I’ve been working in the background on a fun (non-metal) studio project with my good friends Paul Ortiz (Chimp Spanner) and Katie Jackson. Me and Paul have wanted to collaborate for years and with Katie in the fold we’ve created a big back catalogue of fresh ideas over the past 12 months or so. We’ll let you know more soon but keep an eye out for ZETA.
Now, you can take a look at exactly what they’ve been up to. A teaser has been released in anticipation of this and it looks awesome to say the least. You can watch below.
A bio has also been supplied:
ZETA is the collective mind of Paul Ortiz (Chimp Spanner), Daniel Tompkins (TesseracT) and Katie Jackson (Producer) The UK based writers seek to push their own musical boundaries, exploring epic soundscapes and stunning visuals.
This unique project fuses the retro, synth heavy decade of the 80s with futuristic and breathtaking imagery, bringing past and future together in a Cyberpunk-esque package.
With members’ musical tastes ranging from heavy metal, future garage, retrowave and various game and film soundtracks, their music embraces sounds inspired by the melodic backbone of electronica with a subtle undertone of the raw power of metal.
